HOW TO SET UP MOTION DETECT ZONES

All cameras should record Motion Detect if motion detect is enabled under the Event > Video Detect screen. This short tutorial shows you how to set up 4 motion detection zones (per camera) with various sensitivity levels and thresholds to ensure Motion Detect triggers are accurate.

For clarity, these screen shots were taken from the HDVR164M-T2 4 Megapixel 5-Way embedded DVR. Menus may change slightly on embedded NVR recorders.

Main Menu Navigation

  1. Right click on the live screen, select “Main Menu” and log into your DVR.
  2. Once the GUI interface is open, click on the “Event” icon in the “Setting” sub-menu.

Camera Selection – Part 1

  1. Using the menu on the left side of the GUI, make sure you are on the “Video Detect” screen.
  2. Select the “Motion Detect” tab.
  3. Using the drop-down menu, choose the camera (channel) that you want to set Motion Detect for.

Camera Selection – Part 2

Select your Motion Detection Zones

Based on what your camera is viewing, you may wish to set up multiple trigger / motion detect zones. Each color will represent a different zone that you can then adjust the sensitivity and threshold of. For example, you want to anybody pulling up into your driveway.

  1. Hover your mouse over the top, middle of the screen until the Zone GUI appears.
  2. Select the zone you wish to program. There are 4 total zones available.
  3. Use your mouse to click + drag the zone mask over the proper area. Set your Sensitivity and Threshold levels.
  4. Repeat step 3 until all zones are covered.
  5. Right click (your mouse) to go back to the previous screen.
  6. Click “Apply” and then “Save”.

Repeat for all cameras.

Example 1

The entire camera view is set up to record Motion Detect (Zone 1 / Red). The doorways, however, are marked as Zone 2 / Yellow with the maximum amount of sensitivity.
